Practice: C’s reflect on Game 4 loss

WALTHAM, Mass. — Two of the bigger topics on this day were Avery Bradley’s ailing left shoulder and Kevin Garnett’s offensive aggression, but here’s a few more nuggets from the Celtics’ media access before the team practiced Sunday afternoon at HealthPoint: * Film don’t lie: Celtics coach Doc Rivers said it’s not difficult to show his team what went wrong in kicking away an 18-point lead during Friday’s Game 4 loss in (more…)

C’s want KG to be more aggressive

WALTHAM, Mass. — Celtics center Kevin Garnett admitted he wasn’t in a good rhythm in Friday’s Game 4 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, but coach Doc Rivers still wants him to be more aggressive with the ball in this Eastern Conference semifinal series. Garnett finished 3-of-12 shooting with 9 points and 11 rebounds in Friday’s loss that evened the series at two games apiece, but that was a steep drop-off after starting (more…)

Ok, Maybe Lavoy Allen Is A Defensive Problem For Garnett

In the words of that great philosopher Britney Spears, “oops, I did it again.” If there is such a thing as jinxing, I’ve managed to do it twice in this series. I wrote the following yesterday afternoon. Pssst: Someone Tell Kevin Garnett That Lavoy Allen Is A KG Stopper – CelticsBlog Hats off to Lavoy for playing KG reasonably well. And by hats off, I mean both out of respect and out (more…)

Epic. Collapse. Celtics Hand Sixers A Win

The Sixers spotted the Celtics 14 points to start the game, looked like they were ready to give up on the game early, got booed off the court at halftime, …and the Celtics let them win. Unbelievable. I mean, there were times when the Sixers couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Nothing falling for them, nothing. The Celtics had this game wrapped up with a nice bow and sitting on (more…)

Pssst: Someone Tell Kevin Garnett That Lavoy Allen Is A KG Stopper

I don’t know how much better Kevin Garnett can get in these playoffs, but if there was any chance of him getting comfortable and reverting to his ways of over-deferring to his teammates, I hope this serves as some minor motivation for him to say in his “we against the world” mode. Who has had success defending Kevin Garnett? Lavoy Allen has been far and away our most effective defender against Kevin (more…)

The Eternal Unpredictability of the 2011-12 Boston Celtics

Prognosticating the Celtics has turned into hardest job in the northeast this side of Mt. Washington meteorologists. After a Game 2 where the Philadelphia 76ers made the Celtics earn any monikers that people had given them coming into the season (“slow”, “old”, “sloppy”, etc.), the Celtics absolutely trounced the 76ers in Game 3, with a 16-point win that required minimal effort after the first few minutes of the second quarter. Random fluctuations (more…)

Duncan Hates KG… But We Should Appreciate Both Of Them

Chris Ballard recently had an interesting story on Tim Duncan, in which he shared the following: 21 Shades Of Gray – Chris Ballard – SI.com In fact, Duncan hates Kevin Garnett. Hates him the way liberals hate Sean Hannity. This information comes from very reliable sources, who talk about how KG has made a career of trying to punk Duncan, baiting him and slapping him and whispering really weird smack into his (more…)
