As Steve Bulpett points out, there really isn’t enough being said about how much pain Avery Bradley is playing through (and playing well through by the way). His shoulder popped out for like the 20th time (or something like that) and Doc was ready to sub him out, but Bradley shot his free throws, at some point the shoulder slipped back in the socket, and he waived Doc off and kept playing (more…)

Celtics Getting Ahead of Themselves
Looking back at May 16th “Per Diem” article by John Hollinger at ESPN Insider, which was written after the Celtics-Sixers series was tied after 2 games, I found a little bit of comfort. Since the C’s lost on Friday to drop back to 2-2 in the series, my hopes of being one of the 31% of fans at CelticsBlog that thought it would be the “Celtics in 5 games” were dashed. Most (more…)

But the saying goes, you are what your record says you are and right now we’re all even with the Sixers in the 2nd round of the playoffs. This team consistently manages to be inconsistent and it is maddening. We know they can do so much more because we see it so often. In the very last game the (more…)

The Celtics held a 15-point advantage during the first quarter. Everything was going Boston’s way. Rondo was aggressive. He was attacking the glass, active on defense and he was his usual self, dishing glorious passes and driving hard to the lane leaving his defender hopelessly behind him. Paul Pierce finished the first quarter with seven points. Brandon Bass was 4-of-6 with 10 points. 24-12 was the lead for Boston at the end (more…)

The Sixers spotted the Celtics 14 points to start the game, looked like they were ready to give up on the game early, got booed off the court at halftime, …and the Celtics let them win. Unbelievable. I mean, there were times when the Sixers couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Nothing falling for them, nothing. The Celtics had this game wrapped up with a nice bow and sitting on (more…)

I’m not a huge stats guy, but not out of lack of respect for it. I’m just not that good at crunching numbers and I know my own limitations. What I do know, is that when used properly and when blended with traditional scouting and coaching, advanced statistics and analytics is absolutely the way of the future and in fact the present as well. Now there’s a new system called SportVU that (more…)

Word from shootaround this morning is that he went to Wells Fargo on the off-day to get some shots up: Doc said Garnett went to the arena to get up shots on their off day yesterday. Rivers said KG reminded him of Ewing in that way. — Paul (more…)
